who we are
The Nebo Goats Mountain Bike Team is a coed team of student athletes in grades 7–12 from the following school boundaries:

Payson High School
In 2022, we had over 200 student athletes on our team and anticipate adding more for the 2023 season.
We are part of the Utah High School Cycling League which is an affiliate league of the (NICA) National Interscholastic Cycling Association.
OUR Mission
Our goal as a team and league is to help kids develop strength of character, mind, and body through the lifelong sport of cycling. As they participate in practices and races, the kids will make friends, build confidence, gain strength, and have adventures that they will remember for a lifetime!

On our team, everybody rides. There are no tryouts or cuts. We believe everyone should be able to participate in our program and feel welcomed, respected and supported.
Expectations
Rider commitment
We expect our team riders to:

Regularly participate in practices

Respect your teammates and coaches

Always wear a helmet when riding

Use Slack to mark practice availability

Show up to practice with water, a functioning bike, and a positive attitude

Ride within your abilities

Listen when being giving instruction

Complete 3.5 hours of trail work with the team

Maintain a 2.5 GPA

Get your student to and from practice on time (you can coordinate carpools with other parents)

Practice schedule
Practices begin June 1, 2023*
We typically practice 2 times a week and 2 Saturdays a month. Be sure to regularly check Slack for practice schedule, location, and last minute changes.

Communications
Join us on slack
Good communication is vitally important for a team our size to function. We use Slack, a free app, for all team communications including announcements, roster information, activity schedule, training information, and to manage attendance. If you aren't on Slack, you won't know when things are happening or if last minute changes have occurred. You must get on Slack often and indicate whether or not you will be attending practices, races, and other events. With a team of our size it is crucial that the coaches know who is coming to each practice or race so we can plan accordingly. Once you register with the team, we'll send you an invite to join the team Slack channel.
* It is critical that both RIDERS and PARENTS register and participate on Slack.
